Product Release Schedule

The Tetra Data Platform (TDP) and its components are updated regularly, based on the following schedule.

📘

NOTE

The following release schedule is subject to change.

TDP Release Schedule

Major and minor releases for the TDP are available three times a year, approximately four months apart. Patches are available as required (generally once a month).

Environments Updated with Each TDP Release

GxP and Non-GxP TDP deployments each have multiple TDP environments that are updated with each platform release. These environments include the following:

  • MT: The Multi-Tenant (MT) environment hosts non-production TDP organizations for both GxP and non-GxP deployments as well as production organizations for non-GxP deployments.
  • MT2: The Multi-Tenant 2 (MT2) environment hosts production TDP organizations for non-GxP deployments.
  • MT GxP PROD: The Multi-Tenant GxP Production (MT GxP PROD) environment hosts production TDP organizations for GxP deployments.

GxP TDP Release Schedule

Tetra hosted multi-tenant (MT) GxP customers are provided eight weeks after the major or minor TDP General Availability (GA) release is available to complete their validation. Any critical or high-severity issues reported during the eight-week validation period will be addressed. At the end of the validation period, GxP production is upgraded.

NOTE

For Tetra hosted, single-tenant (ST) GxP customers, customer success managers (CSMs) will work with you to plan your timeline for upgrades.

Non-GxP TDP Release Schedule

Production environments for non-GxP TDP deployments (MT2) are updated four weeks after a major or minor TDP version General Availability (GA) release.

TDP Upgrade Process FAQs

The following are frequently asked questions we recieve about the TDP upgrade process.

How often are major and minor TDP versions available in a year, and is it a fixed schedule?

Major and minor releases for the TDP are available approximately three times a year.

Where can I find the detailed release schedule for the upcoming year?

We don't post specific release dates more than a few weeks in advance, because the target release date can often shift based on update readiness. We announce the exact date only when we are confident in the release's integrity.

What can be expected from the draft release notes?

The draft release notes can be considered an accurate representation of all new functionality included in the release, and can be used for your interal impact assessment(s). It also contains a descritption of the TetraScience GxP Assessment that informed the updates to the validaion package for the releease.

Are both draft and final versions of release notes shared with customers?

Yes, we share both the draft and final versions of the release notes. Draft release notes are shared with customers 1-2 weeks before the GA release date. Final release notes are published on the GA release date.

How much difference is there between draft and final release notes typically?

Release Notes vary very little from the draft to final version. The payload is locked down and GxP Assessment is performed well ahead of the draft release notes, so that the substantive content typically doesn't change. Any changes to the draft notes are usually only in the Known and Possible Issues section as issues are identified during testing, or in the rare case that a new functionality or enhancement is removed from the release. For any existing functionalities in prior TDP versions that are deprecated, we provide a six- to 12-month notice before deprecating the functionality. We also don't remove any new functionality that's scheduled to be in an upcoming release without notifying customers. If a change is made to the draft notes after the GA release date, we put the date the notes were last updated, and tag what was changed, along with the date the change was made.

Are TDP upgrades mandatory, or do we have the option to opt out?

There is no opt-out available for multi-tenant, tetra-hosted deployments. Upgrades to these environments follow the TetraScience release schedule.

When are customers notified about TDP upgrades?

Customer success managers (CSMs) inform customers about the approximate date of upcoming releases months before the official announcements. High-level themes for each major and minor release are generally officially available two weeks prior to the General Availability (GA) release.

An update is considered GA on the release date. For multi-tenant, Tetra-hosted GxP customers, only their DEV environment is upgraded on this day. PROD is upgraded eight weeks after the update is GA.

For more information, see the GxP TDP Release Schedule.

How should we assess each release's impact on relevant GxP functionalities?

See the GxP Assessment in each TDP version's release notes. TetraScience assesses all new functionality for GxP relevance and adds it to the validation package for each release.
