Tetra Amazon S3 Connector v1.0.x Release Notes

v1.0.0

Release date: 19 July 2024

TetraScience has released its first version of the Tetra Amazon S3 Connector version 1.0.0. The Connector is a standalone, containerized application that uses the Pluggable Connector Framework to automatically uploads files (objects) from your organization's Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) buckets to the Tetra Data Platform (TDP) whenever an object is created. Amazon S3 is an object storage service that offers high scalability, data availability, security, and performance.

New Functionality

New functionality includes features not previously available in the TDP or Tetra Amazon S3 Connector:

  • The Connector can receive Amazon S3 events and upload corresponding objects to the TDP.

Enhancements

Enhancements are modifications to existing functionality that improve performance or usability, but don't alter the function or intended use of the system.

  • Added support for uploading files larger than 50 GB.
  • To improve responsiveness to requests to change the Connector's configuration or operating status, the Connector can now stop Amazon Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS) poll or message processing when those changes are requested.

Bug fixes

The following bugs from the previous beta-release version of the Connector are now fixed:

  • Fixed a bug where, following certain error types, the Connector would delete Amazon SQS messages before uploading objects to the TDP.
  • Applied various security updates.

Limitations

  • The Connector only uploads files that change in the configured Amazon S3 bucket. Uploading files that are already in the bucket requires adding synthetic events to the queue.
  • TetraScience supports configuring the TDP to use an Amazon S3 Gateway Endpoint. In this case, all S3 traffic is routed to that endpoint. If you're using an S3 Gateway Endpoint, then the Connector is restricted to only work with buckets in the same AWS Region as the TDP deployment.

Deprecated Features

There are no deprecated features in this release.
