Network Specifications
The following lists the network specifications. Note that <TDP domain> is the Tetra Data Platform endpoint you log into (for example: platform.yourorganization.com).
URL | Port | Protocol | Description |
---|---|---|---|
iot.<TDP domain> | 8883 | TCP | MQTT+TLS (Outbound firewall rule from IoT Agent (Client) side) |
iot.<TDP domain> us.pool.ntp.org * north-america.pool.ntp.org | 123 | UDP | NTP servers for time synchronization; at least one NTP URL should be allowed; if on LAB LAN, an internal time-server needs to be configured in IoT Agent local settings to allow for automatic time sync upon Agent reboot. |
MQTT
The Tetra IoT Agent uses MQTT+TLS as the main communication protocol. Communication includes this information:
- Data collected from devices/sensors specified in the driver and configuration file
- System metrics of the Tetra IoT Agent: MAC address, and IP address for WAN and Wi-Fi, SSID,
- BSSID, and signal strength and quality for Wi-Fi
- New configuration file from the Cloud
- Firmware update to the Cloud
