Version 3.8.0

Release date: 3 June 2025

TetraScience has released its next version of the Tetra UNICORN Agent version 3.8.0. This release introduces enhanced communication capabilities between the Agent and the Tetra Data Platform (TDP), including support for proxy configurations and the use of Destination IDs for file uploads.

Prerequisites

The following Tetra Data components are required for Tetra UNICORN Agent v3.8.0:

New Functionality

There are no new functionalities in this release.

Enhancements

Enhancements are modifications to existing functionality that improve performance or usability, but don't alter the function or intended use of the system.

Proxy Enhancements

Advanced Settings now include the following options for configuring how the Agent interacts with a proxy:

  • System (default setting): Uses the system proxy specified in Windows for the service user. If basic authentication is required, a username and password can be specified for the proxy.
  • Custom: Makes all of the Agent's proxy options configurable, regardless of any other settings. This proxy takes precedence over any existing system proxy or L7 proxy.
  • None: Explicitly configures the Agent service to not use any proxies for web requests.

Destination ID

The Agent now includes a Destination ID field in Agent Configuration section.

The Destination ID feature is designed to improve the horizontal scalability of the Agent. When a Destination ID is configured, the Agent uses it—rather than the Agent ID—to upload files to the TDP. This enables multiple Agents sharing the same Destination ID to upload files to a common Data Lake location, allowing all files to be stored in the same Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) destination defined by the Destination ID.

Other Enhancements

  • The S3 Direct Upload option is now activated by default for new Tetra UNICORN Agent installations. The option allows Agents to directly upload files to Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) buckets in the TDP by using AWS API endpoints and supports uploading files up to 5 TB. If S3 Direct Upload is deactivated, the Agent will alert the user each time the Agent Management Console opens.
  • The Agent now uploads its configuration file to the TDP. Users can download the configuration file from the TDP Agent page by clicking the Download Configuration button on the Agents page.

Bug Fixes

The following bugs are now fixed:

  • When the UNICORN Result file contains any non-printable ASCII control characters, the Agent converts it into a readable, escaped format using the pattern of u00XX, where XX is a 2-digit, lowercase, hexadecimal representation of the character. The Agent now correctly handles the file in this situation and uploads it to the TDP.
  • In the error details dialog box, the error message can now be copied, and a typo in the title has been corrected. !--https://tetrascience.atlassian.net/browse/AG-2626

Deprecated Features

There are no new deprecated features in this release. For more information about TDP deprecations, see Tetra Product Deprecation Notices.

Known and Possible Issues

The following are known or possible issues in Tetra UNICORN Agent v3.8.0:

  • Due to a bug in the OPC HDA interface of UNICORN, the Peak Start and Peak End have the same value. The workaround to address this is to calculate the Peak End as Peak Start + Peak Width (both values are present in the PeakTable object in UNICORN and the RAW JSON file).

Upgrade Considerations

To upgrade the Agent, see Common Tetra Agent Upgrade and Installation Information and the Tetra UNICORN Agent Installation Guide (v3.8.x).

To configure and use the Agent after it's installed, see the Tetra UNICORN Agent User Manual (v3.8.x).
