Scientist Experience v1.2.x Release Notes

Release notes for the Scientist Experience versions 1.2.x

The following are the release notes for the Scientist Experience versions 1.2.x. The Scientist Experience is a simplified Tetra interface that helps bench scientists find and use their data without technical configuration getting in the way.

v1.2.0

Release date: 7 October 2026

What's New

TetraScience has released version 1.2.0 of the Scientist Experience. This release makes search results easier to customize: scientists can now add any label to the search results table as a column without also filtering by that label. The release also updates the Scientist Experience's interface components to match the rest of Tetra.

New Functionality

New functionality includes features not previously available in the Scientist Experience.

There's no new functionality in this release.

Enhancements

Enhancements are modifications to existing functionality that improve performance or usability, but don't alter the function or intended use of the system.

Add Label Columns to Search Results Without Filtering

Scientists can now add any label as a column in the search results table, and the result set stays the same.

Previously, scientists could show a label as a column only by adding a filter for that label, which also narrowed the search results. The Edit Columns dialog offered only a fixed list of built-in columns, and the Columns menu in the search results toolbar couldn't add columns.

Now, column controls work in the following ways:

  • Add columns from two places: Add a column from either the Columns menu in the search results toolbar or the Edit Columns dialog. Adding a label column doesn't create a filter or change your active filters.
  • Search for columns: The add-column control is searchable and lists built-in columns and labels together. Label search covers all available labels, not only the labels that appear in the current results.
  • See only relevant options: Inactive labels and columns that are already in the table aren't listed. A label that has the same name as a built-in column is listed separately, so selecting one never adds the other.
  • Keep the columns you add: Removing a label filter now removes only the column that the filter added. Label columns that you added yourself stay in the table.
  • Consistent column behavior: Columns behave the same way whether they're added from the Columns menu, the Edit Columns dialog, a filter, or a saved search.

No action is required.

Updated Interface Components

The Scientist Experience now uses a shared interface component library used across Tetra applications, so buttons, menus, dialogs, and tables look and behave more consistently. Existing workflows are unchanged.

The most noticeable change is on the Choose your workspace page. This page appears only the first time a user signs in after the Scientist Experience is activated, so users who have already chosen a workspace won't see it.

No action is required.
