Legacy Tetra IDBS E-Workbook Connector v1.5.x Release Notes

Release notes for the Legacy Tetra IDBS E-Workbook Connector version 1.5.x

The following are the Legacy Tetra IDBS E-Workbook Connector release notes for versions 1.5.x.

v1.5.0

Release date: 5 October 2026

What's New

TetraScience has released its next version of the Legacy Tetra IDBS E-Workbook Connector, version 1.5.0. This release makes large retrieves usable when several people use the Connector at the same time. Administrators can set how long a DataWeave run may take, and a single template can raise that limit further. The Connector interface stays responsive during large retrieves, large template saves, and log downloads.

New Functionality

New Functionality includes features not previously available in the Tetra Data Platform (TDP) or Tetra IDBS E-Workbook Connector.

  • The Connector Settings page now includes a Max execution time dropdown in the DataWeave section. This setting is how long one DataWeave run may take before the Connector stops it. The dropdown offers 10, 20, 30, 45, 60, and 90 seconds. Leave it unset to keep the DataWeave library default of 30 seconds. A value of 60 seconds or longer shows a reminder to optimize the script before raising the limit. For more information, see Legacy IDBS E-Workbook Connector - Admin Configuration.

  • A DataWeave script can set its own time limit with a //@ts-max-transformation-timeout comment, for example //@ts-max-transformation-timeout 180. Put the comment in the script that needs the longer run. The Connector reads it from the query script, the results script, and the upload script. The value is a whole number of seconds from 10 through 600. That limit applies only to that script and overrides Max execution time. The Settings value itself cannot be higher than 120 seconds. An invalid comment is ignored, and the Settings value, or the 30 second default, is used instead.

Enhancements

Enhancements are modifications to existing functionality that improve performance or usability, but don't alter the function or intended use of the system.

  • When the Connector is already running as many retrieve and upload actions as it allows, new ones wait in a queue and start automatically. The Progress tab says that another action is using the Connector, and it shows Position in queue. Time spent waiting doesn't count toward Max execution time. Previously, overlapping actions all ran at once, which slowed every DataWeave run and could stop a nearly finished one because it exceeded the time limit. No configuration is required. Optional container environment variables can change how many actions run at once. Leave them unset unless you need to override the automatic limits. For more information, see Legacy IDBS E-Workbook Connector Installation.

Bug Fixes

The following bugs are now fixed:

  • The Connector interface stays responsive during and after a large retrieve. Previously, a large retrieve could make every page unresponsive for minutes, including while the Connector was only checking status.

  • Downloading Connector logs no longer freezes the interface for the length of the download.

  • Saving a large DataWeave template, or importing a large Connector configuration, no longer fails. The Connector accepts these requests up to 10 MB.

  • A DataWeave run that exceeds its time limit now reports that it did not finish within that limit and names the limit in seconds. Previously, the same failure appeared as a generic DataWeave command error.

  • A retrieve that transforms the whole result set in one script no longer stays on the map step after DataWeave has already finished.

  • The Progress tab no longer shows results from an earlier run before the current retrieve has finished transforming.

  • After a DataWeave script fails, the Connector no longer keeps that script's full output in the active session, so the interface stays responsive. The full output remains in the Connector log.

Deprecated Features

There are no new deprecated features in this release. For more information about TDP deprecations, see Tetra Product Deprecation Notices.

Known and Possible Issues

  • If the Connector restarts, actions waiting in the queue are dropped and must be started again.

Upgrade Considerations

Upgrading from v1.4.x or earlier clears Connector login sessions. After the v1.5.0 container starts, users must log in again. An action that was running does not resume. Connector configuration and DataWeave templates are kept. Schedule the upgrade for a time when nobody is in the middle of a retrieve or upload. For the upgrade steps, see Legacy IDBS E-Workbook Connector Installation.

The instructions in Legacy IDBS E-Workbook Connector - Admin Configuration now include Max execution time and the per-script timeout comment.

No settings change is required. If Max execution time was never set, DataWeave runs keep the 30 second default. A value already stored for this setting, including one set through the configuration API or a configuration import, is kept.
